Hilton to double presence in focused service segment across APAC

The group has 594 more properties under development.

Hospitality giant Hilton plans to double its presence in the focused service segment across Asia Pacific (APAC) in the coming years, aiming to surpass 1,000 hotels.

With 483 properties in the region under its Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton brands, the company has 594 more under development.

Clarence Tan, senior vice president of Development for Asia Pacific, cited strong demand driven by the growing middle class and the rise in intra-Asian travel, which accounts for 60% of international arrivals in the region.

Hilton’s other brands have seen growth driven by recent openings in key tourism including Hilton Garden Inn branches in Bangkok, Rayong, and Yangshuo.

The company has also introduced Hilton Garden Inn Gen A, a new regional prototype for Greater China, and is focusing on expanding its franchise operations in India, China, Australia, and Thailand.

Hilton's 2025 Trends Report highlighted a growing travel trend amongst younger generations, with 92% of Gen Alpha and Gen Z APAC tourists having travelled in the past year. The younger generation’s appetite for travel is evident in China, India, and Singapore, where they have gone on two to three trips on average in the past year.

This behaviour is evident in future plans as well, with 88% likely to travel in the next year.

The report also forecasts 2025 as the "year of the travel maximiser," where travellers aim to combine relaxation with high-impact experiences to make the most of their time and money. This aligns with findings from Hilton's 2024 Trends Report, which said Asian consumers are prioritising travel over other purchases and increasing their travel spending compared to the previous year.
